Flak Bait on the restoration shop floor!
I had a couple of hours to visit the NASM on 12/26 and had the wonderful treat of seeing B-26B Flak Bait laid out on the restoration floor at the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hanger at the Udvar-Hazy Center of the NASM. A fantastic piece of history finally will be whole once again. The nose section has been on display at the NASM on the Washington Mall since it opened. Many thousands of visitors managed to wear away the paint just aft of the plexiglass nose over the years. Head on view looking down View of the right hand nose and fuselage sections Underside of the left wing with faint invasion stripes visible. Another view of the underside of the left wing Top of the right wing. Right side of the forward fuselage Closeup of the upper surface of the left wing. Flight controls, stabilizers and main landing gear Another view of the pieces including the rudder.
